Texas Sun Styling Series: How to Dress for a Coffee Date edition
I have to admit that I am so much of a regular at my local coffee shop that the baristas not only have my order memorized but have all become my friends. We share recipes and help each other as we all grow our budding businesses. My little local coffee shop has become my second home.

So, naturally, today’s newsletter focuses on pairing two of my favorite things: a western belt and coffee.
Controversial as it may be, I like to dress casually on a first date.
My tried-and-true formula is:
-
Flats or sandals: I’m pretty tall and honestly I love going for a walk with a date. Topics tend to flow so naturally when walking, but I have to make sure I’m wearing comfortable shoes!
-
Casual bottoms: think straight jeans or wide leg trousers. My goal is always casual cool.
-
An oversized button down: It's effortless and a little borrowed-from-the-boys in a way that always works on a date
-
A statement piece: my go-to for dates is our Hammered Concho belt in gold. The pop of gold helps to accentuate my waist and adds a touch of my Texan personality to a classic outfit.
With this outfit, my date gets to see my favorite casual yet confident version of me, the Sunday afternoon edition giving Etta James’s Sunday Kind of Love kind of energy.

A quick story on why this works: I had a first date with a guy, and since we were meeting at noon, I wasn’t sure if the plan would be lunch, brunch or honestly just coffee, so I strategically made sure we met in a location with multiple options all within walking distance. Well, it turns out that he was in the mood for coffee (as I always am), so naturally I led him to my favorite local coffee shop… Well, I have never had so many ‘thumbs up’ and excited smiles shot my way by the baristas and other regulars. After we said goodbye, I rushed back into the coffee shop to gush about how well the date went.
So, if you’ve got a coffee date coming up, try out my outfit formula and let me know how it goes! 🤠
