The Texan Edit: Road Trip Playlist Edition

The Texan Edit: Road Trip Playlist Edition

With summer just around the corner, it is officially road trip season! One of my favorite types of trips is a long Texas road trip, which is just so Texan of me. As Pat Green sings, β€˜everybody gotta get away sometime, forget about yourself for a while’; a long drive singing along to my favorite songs is my kind of therapy. My brain stops multi-tasking and doesn’t exactly β€˜switch off’ but switches to a slower mode, one that focuses only on the road and the song lyrics.Β

Random fun fact about Texans, we tend to measure driving distances in hours, not miles. So, if you were to ask me how far it is to drive from Fort Worth to Midland, I’d say 4.5 hours instead of 300 miles.Β

But, to celebrate road trip season, we’ve put together a fun playlist to help you romanticize your long drive with songs from Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band, Brooks & Dunn, The Chicks and many more.Β

Now we were southbound 35

We were headed down the road

Hit the border by the morning

To let Texas fill my soul

Southbound 35 by Pat Green

Β

Baby, let's just take a drive

It's already getting late

Let's go kiss the sundown

Out on the interstate

Interstate by Randy Rogers Band

I hit the highway in a pink RV with stars on the ceiling

Lived like a gypsy

Six strong hands on the steering wheel

The Long Way Around by The Chicks
