Styling Series: What to Wear to a Texas Dancehall

Two Step Ready: What to Wear to a Fort Worth Dancehall

Being spun around a dancehall is one of my all time favorite ways to spend a Saturday night. It’s always a great date activity too - I think it’s one way to see how y’all work together, if you can work past the awkward shuffle and get in sync. The communication it takes to seemingly effortlessly glide across a dance floor is truly goals.

Before you step onto the dance floor, I’ve got a couple tips for you.

First, wear slick bottomed cowboy boots instead of rubber soled boots. You’ll slide better across the dancehall and spin around like Ginger Rogers.

Second, if learning on the fly isn’t your style, take a two step lesson. There are weekly classes that you can join (with or without a partner!), and you’re guaranteed to learn something new!

Lastly, wear a fun western outfit. I love a fringe or jean skirt with our Double Buckle belt, but any of our belts would be at home in a dancehall.

Weekly two step lessons in Fort Worth:

Tuesdays:

  • Rodeo Exchange at 7 PM

Wednesdays:

  • Bowie House at 7 PM - reservations required

Thursdays:

  • Pearl’s Saloon at 7 PM (Intermediate) & 8 PM (Beginners)

  • Guitars & Cadillacs at 8 PM

Fridays:

  • Guitars & Cadillacs at 7:15 PM
